Abstract:This paper reviews the development of School Streets in the United Kingdom, and classifies the common School Streets
into three types, including the ones with a single street entrance , the ones closed at both ends of the streets and the ones
of multiple road crossing. Taking the School Streets in Hackney as an example, this paper preliminarily explores its
spatial pattern and basic characteristics, discusses the impact of this activity on the city, and provides a theoretical basis
for us to build a car-free environment around schools in the future.
