MiYiSuo 215: Ice Tangyuan in Sihai Lake, Taonan, China
沈艺芃 / SHEN Yipeng
Thousands of ice and snow balls
cover the Sihai Lake,
making the surface undulate,
as if rippling in the sunlight.
The crushed ice was pushed by the wind and waves,
rolling in the lake into white balls
of uniform size and rounded shape,
which were frozen in the rapid cooling.
Fittingly, the scene reminds people of
the floating Tangyuan in the pot.
Moreover, the huge scale makes it extraordinary.
"Ice Tangyuan" is a natural wonder
that coincidentally appears
as the Lantern Festival approaches,
which makes it quickly become popular on the Internet.
Festive lanterns are arranged in the scenic area,
netizens come here to take pictures,
and meteorologists also come to explain this,
as if they are "solving the riddle of lanterns".
Although this unique scene has been melting away recently,
its contribution to local recognition and tourism
is obvious to all.
Ice Tangyuan is located in Sihai Lake National Wetland Park, Taonan City, Jilin, China.
