MiYiSuo 233: Wushan Air-raid Shelter, Fuzhou, China
沈艺芃 / SHEN Yipeng
The air-raid shelter built during the war
is used as a leisure space for citizens
for its natural shade.
In the shelter,
you can experience the rock cave walls,
simple stone pavement,
colorful oil-paper umbrella ceiling and lighting,
and feel the charm of history,
the spirit of revolution,
and the romance of a peaceful era.
With a strong sense of depth,
different times and spaces seem to be intertwined here,
making people realize the longevity.
In recent years, there have been a few
renovation projects of air-raid shelters,
turning them from air defense projects to civic spaces.
According to local conditions,
public teahouses, small cinemas,
and photo galleries are set up,
attracting citizens to come for leisure and summer vacation.
The shelter is also a convenient link
between Wushan Park and Liming Lake Park,
and its design is combined with Fuzhou oil-paper umbrellas,
attracting many tourists to come and take pictures.
Wushan Air-raid Shelter, connecting Wushan Park and Liming Lake Park,
is located in Gulou District, Fuzhou, Fujian.
