Tianjin as an example, starting from the renewal of historical and cultural districts based on the catalyst theory, the
study tries to carry out in-depth exploration in the aspects of analysis of the site problems, selection of the catalyst elements
and control of the catalyst reaction. And then, combined with micro-renewal, participatory planning and other
methods, the study hopes to solve the problems in this district: lack of space inconveniences of the living; poor business
types, difficulty in coordinating multiple interests, and ultimately tries to summarize a strategy of using the catalyst theory
comprehensively in the renewal of historical and cultural districts.
