Abstract:This paper summarizes two issues of Tianjin Quanye Bazaar, declining traditional retail and declining physical
environment. The “flowing super block” is raised as the revitalization strategy, basing upon potential redevelopment
spaces identification and commercial vitality reconfiguration. To build an organic regeneration approach for traditional
commercial and historical districts guided by the flow space theory, three measures are proposed: urban function
upgraded by new information technology, urban function carriers reorganization, urban open space and utilities system
improvement. The driving force of Tianjin Quanye Bazaar will be activated as well as the space will be reshaped,
leading to a new type of urban commercial district.
