Abstract：With the rapid development of urbanization, the countryside is not totally urban or rural, which exposes the problems such
as lack of cultural space and collective memory. This paper selects Nanjiao Village, a historical and cultural village, as the
renewal experimental site, faces the two cores of why and how to awaken collective memory, and takes the “cultural space
gene theory” as the starting point to clarify the concept and classification of featured resource elements. After determining
the typical samples of cultural space nodes, combining with the idea of integration and symbiosis, and following the
research method of the whole chain, the organic combination of theory and practice is realized, with a view to activating
the traditional cultural space, awakening the collective memory of villagers, and promoting the scientific protection and
development of featured villages and towns.
