Abstract:Lee’s residence in Pu’er is a typical design case of Zhaoyang Architects’ rural practices in China. This essay explains
the major aspects of the design thinking. On the one hand, the locality of Pu’er region is thoroughly explored, including
conditions of geography, climate building traditions, etc. On the other hand, the local cultural customs and lifestyle are also
analyzed. This essay further explains how the design strategies and architectural language respond to the above issues.
