Abstract:Cultivating high-quality urban and rural planning talents has an important role in promoting urban and rural
construction and development, and urban design courses are the core teaching link in the cultivation of urban and
rural planning talents. To meet the needs of national strategies and industry transformation in the new era, and to lead
graduate students in urban and rural planning to become high-level composite talents who can undertake urban and
rural construction work in the new era in the future, the teaching guideline of urban design courses for postgraduate is
proposed, including focusing on the needs of the development stage, attaching importance to the transmission of values,
emphasizing the enhancement of research ability, and the strategies and suggestions for reforming the teaching of the
postgraduate urban design courses are further proposed, such as the selection of design topics with multiple objectives
and contexts, the process-oriented teaching methods, the empowerment of new technology methods, and the integration
of ideological and political education.
