Abstract:In the current context of China’s urbanization transformation, urban design courses for senior-level undergraduates as
an important part of cultivating students’ diversified abilities face multiple challenges. Based on a brief overview of
the undergraduate training system of urban and rural planning at Southeast University (SEU), this paper focuses on
the design, organization and implementation of fourth-year urban design courses, combing with the teaching concept
of “Space+”, in an attempt to construct an urban design course system that can respond to multiple needs. The results
show that the course system has basically achieved the objectives of comprehensive competence, value formation and
personal development. As a summary of the ongoing reform of the urban design teaching at SEU, this paper provides a
teaching system for discussion and reference.
