Abstract:Under the background of unprecedented development of art education and “art examination” heating up year
by year, how to improve the quality of art education has become an important topic. The development of Inner
Mongolia Arts University (hereinafter referred to as IMAU) is limited by the lack of teaching space in the old
campus, so it is in urgent need of campus space that meets the characteristics of art education. Different times,
societies and humanistic environments breed different campus cultures. These features are concentrated in
the space structure, landmark buildings, landscapes and other aspects of the campus, expressing the cultural
and regional characteristics of the campus. We attempt to explore the adaptation of the regional landscape and
human characteristics of IMAU campus. The campus planning is based on the characteristics of regional spatial
landscape, and naturally generates a campus with free cluster layout, forming a “grassland settlement” that
integrates with the grassland. The campus landscape design extracts the beautiful lines in the “Andai Dance” into
landscape trails, and generates the winding rivers on the grassland into the campus, making the campus a classic
epitome of the regional landscape. the center meadow and the open space on the ground floor of the building,
provide opportunities to various activities, such as second class, group discussion, parties and exhibition. In
every detail, we build a barrier free campus and a green campus with deep care to the needs of the students and
professors. The campus architectural design starts from the artistic prototype of “skylight” and combines the
architectural functions and space needs of the art center and the library, shaping the two landmark architectural
images of the campus and carrying the understanding of the prairie people to the sky and their hometown.
