Abstract:In recent years, Survey-Oriented, Research-Based teaching methods and content have become the mainstream in Urban
Design Curriculum Teaching, which have been widely used and gradually become a system. It has formed an important
supplement to The Traditional “Spatial Form Construction” oriented teaching. Other than that students’ research ability
has generally improved, and their understanding of the city has become more systematic, scientific and in-depth, but
it has been accompanied by a significant phenomenon that students’ Spatial Form Construction ability has generally
weakened. At the same time, with the change of the Territorial Spatial Planning, the target system, value system, and
technical method system of “Urban Design” are more complex and diverse. Whether the Regular Undergraduate
Teaching of Urban Design is “oriented to the changes of the times” or “oriented to the discipline ontology” has become
an important question that needs to be answered urgently in the teaching of Contemporary Urban Design Undergraduate
Courses. Starting from the two main content orientations of Contemporary Urban Design Course Teaching, this paper
will analyze its teaching purposes, methods, requirements and difficulties, and put forward two suggestions to respond
to the two teaching goals of “Changes of the Times” and “Subject Ontology”.
