Abstract:In view of the problems and challenges faced by urban construction in western China, such as resource dispersion and
fragmented governance, this article analyzes the urban design concepts of the first phase project of the Energy, Finance,
and Trade Pilot Zone in Xi’an’s Xixian New Area, by elaborating its innovations in aspects of inheriting local culture,
intensive land use, three-dimensional greening, human-oriented planning, and innovative urban construction model. The
project integrates various concepts of urban planning, coordinated by a unified design team responsible for both urban
design and architectural design, realizing the goal of unified planning, design, construction, and management. It builds a
compact, efficient, and characteristic new urban area, providing an example for the sustainable development of China’s
urban design.
