A Co-construction and Sharing Model for “Future Village” Development in
Zhejiang Province:
A Case Study of Qingshan Village in Yuhang District, Hangzhou City
Abstract:The imbalanced supply and demand of homestead resources and the difficulty in coordinating multiple stakeholders’
interests tend to obstruct the “Future Village” development in Zhejiang Province. This project takes the Future
Village Experimental Zone of Qingshan Village in Yuhang District, Hangzhou City as the case study to develop a
co-construction mechanism for multiple stakeholders, based on which three strategies, four modes, and corresponding
design proposals for space sharing were formulated. The shared living houses, youth apartments, and courtyard house
clusters adopt hierarchical designs of private–semi-private–public spaces in the plane and fa?ade layout of single-family
houses and residential clusters. These design solutions solve the conflicts between native and new villagers’ demands
for housing privacy and diversified social spaces. The innovative rural space-sharing modes promote the efficient use of
the stock homesteads, and the full-cycle co-construction mechanism coordinates multiple stakeholders’ interests. This
study provides a reference for “Future Village” development.
