Abstract:The Xiaowopu Community Environmental Education Center project is initiated by the Wuzhiqiao team of Beijing
Jiaotong University, aiming to provide a student-led case for the rural revitalization practices coordinated by architects.
The project, created in 2017, is a companion rural construction project focused on environmental education. It takes
“architecture as a social process” as its core concept and combines the small-scale physical space construction with
a series of non-material measures to promote the protection of natural environments and the improvement of living
environments in the water source villages of Beijing, and to enhance the relationship between people, nature, and
villages. Additionally, it provides a practical platform for university students, promotes the development of talents in
rural areas, and nurtures “future architects” for rural revitalization.
