Abstract:The Beijing CR Land Galleria Shopping Centre–Instreet in Chaoyang District is a typical example of urban commercial
space transformation. Located in the Sanyuanqiao business district in Chaoyang District, the project has successfully
transformed a traditional supporting commercial space into a vibrant commercial area through careful planning and
implementation by China Resources Land. The project adopted the strategy of “Retention, Change and Demolition” to
improve the quality of the space, innovate the consumer scene, and introduce a diversity of tenants and activities, which
significantly increased retail sales and customer traffic. The design team created an open, multi-functional social space
by removing the old footbridge and introducing elements such as a landscaped canopy. In addition, the project focused
on detailing and green sustainability to achieve a harmonious coexistence between man and nature. Through its high
standard of design and innovative experience, the project has become a benchmark for community-based public space
renovation in China.
