Abstract:The Liangma River International Style Waterfront Project in Chaoyang District has successfully achieved the
comprehensive enhancement of urban public spaces by driving urban renewal through river revitalization. Initiated
in 2019, the project was led by the Water Authority of Chaoyang District and executed in collaboration with various
government departments and enterprises. It encompasses six major components: bank rehabilitation, bridge renovation,
pedestrian connectivity, landscape illumination, river-lake integration, and tourism navigation. The waterfront along the
Liangma River was meticulously designed and managed, resulting in the creation of a 6-kilometer tourist route and an
18-kilometer high-quality waterfront greenway. This has revitalized the commercial vitality and enriched the cultural
heritage of the area. The project not only enhances the ecological environment of the river but also improves the wellbeing
of residents and the attractiveness of the region by upgrading public space quality and urban infrastructure. The
Liangma River has now become a new landmark in Chaoyang District and a significant symbol of Beijing’s status as
an international consumption center, exemplifying a new urban renewal model that prioritizes ecological sustainability,
integrated development, and public engagement.
