Abstract:As China’s first state-owned trunk railway, the Jingzhang Railway has witnessed a century of urbanization in China but
also faces issues such as urban space fragmentation. The construction of the Jingzhang Railway Heritage Park adopts
a tailored, phased approach, integrating historical heritage with modern urban needs. This project has created a linear
public space that combines open sharing, historical display, innovation features, intensive use, and green ecology.
The completion of the park has significantly enhanced the urban environment of the Zhongguancun area, achieved
the stitching together of urban spaces, preserved railway culture, supplemented innovation services, revitalized idle
spaces, and established a green urban corridor. Additionally, the project has innovatively established a multi-department
coordination mechanism and a railway-land cooperation model, promoting a new pattern of urban governance characterized
by co-construction, co-governance, and shared benefits. This provides valuable experience for urban renewal.
