Abstract:This article discusses the renewal practices of the Tongzhou District Sub-Center Urban Green Heart (formerly the
Dongfang Factory and surrounding areas). Located at the core of the sub-center, the urban green heart covers an area of
approximately 11.2 square kilometers and was originally an industrial area and villages. In 2016, the North Investment
Group initiated a transformation aimed at constructing a green ecological foundation, achieving a transformation
from an industrial area to an ecological park. The renovation included ecological governance, cultural heritage, and
functional integration, creating a green and sustainable ecological model through scientific renewal. The project not
only improved the ecological environment but also enriched biodiversity, becoming a new destination for citizens’
leisure experiences. Innovative experiences include strategies such as ecological reshaping, reuse of old buildings, and
empowerment reconstruction, and through full-cycle management, it has achieved a transformation from industrial
civilization to ecological civilization.
