Abstract:This paper introduces the double degree master program in urban design (CO-RUN program) between South China
University of Technology (SCUT) and Politecnico di Torino (POLITO). Through the dialogue between the teachers
in charge of CO-RUN program, it discusses the importance between urban research and design in the teaching of
architecture in China and Italy, and explains why the two schools chose urban design as a main topic for joint-education;
discusses the framework of the curriculum, its interrelationships, and how to build the horizontal connection between
the courses within the program; and propose thinking to the future on the outcomes through the assignments of the
students. In the future, the CO-RUN program can be used as a reference case for similar studies between universities.
