Abstract：China’s social and economic development toward urban agglomeration has been the trend for years. In such a new
stage of urbanization, how to promote the conservation of the historic cities is both a crucial theoretical issue and a
challenging practical problem. In fact, urban planning history in China in thousands of years has provided us with many
ideal, valuable, and meaningful excellent cases, which are worthy of being inherited and carried forward.
