Urban Neighborhood Renewal Design Practice through “Harmonious Coexistence with Humility”: A Case Study of the “Half Street” Project in Hefei
Junfeng Li
Abstract:This paper takes the renewal design of Half Street in Hefei as its subject, exploring the application of the “Harmonious Coexistence with Humility” concept in urban renewal. Through three main design strategies—“half new and half old”, “half street and half park”, and “half mountain and half city”—the project seeks a pattern of “harmony” through an attitude of modesty and concession. It achieves a harmonious integration of historical culture with modern fashion, commercial districts with natural parks, and mountain recreation with commercial organization. This practice offers a sustainable design approach, embodying both humanistic care and ecological wisdom, for similar urban renewal projects.
