Characteristics of the Industrial Architectural Heritage in Beijing, Tianjin and Hebei from the 20th-Century Architectural Heritage Directory of China

Abstract:Under the background of regionally coordinated development, it is important to grasp the value characteristics of the 20th century industrial architectural heritage (IAH) in Beijing, Tianjin and Hebei region. This paper selects the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei IAH in the 20th Century Architectural Heritage Directory of China (CADHC) as a case study, systematically sorts out analyzes its type, space time and construction characteristics, extracts the core values and analyzes the representative cases in various sub-regions. The study found that the selected heritage site in this area were mainly factories and parks, supplemented by transportation-related site. The times of constructions were concentrated in the 1900s and 1950s, and the space was dotted around the industrial nodes of Beijing, Tianjin and Hebei. Currently, the selected projects have a clear focus and can be further optimized in terms of regional balance and category comprehensiveness.
