Abstract:The 20th-Century Architectural Heritage in Chongqing spans multiple historical stages, including the port opening and municipal establishment period, the wartime capital period, the southwest regional construction period, and the industrial transformation period. It is characterized by distinct mountain adaptability, diverse historical values, and integrated stylistic features. This study sorts out the types and cases of heritage in each period, elaborates on the multi-level protection system constructed by Chongqing with “authenticity protection, systematic coordination, and dynamic inheritance and utilization” as the core, and summarizes a variety of diversified activation and utilization modes such as cultural-tourism integration, industrial empowerment, people’s livelihood orientation, and museum-based protection. Furthermore, it exemplifies how the heritage is transformed from static specimens into urban assets with comprehensive cultural, social, and economic values.
