A Study on the Historical Accumulation of Old Industrial Communities of the “156 Projects” in Heilongjiang Province Based on Historical Map Translation
Abstract:The “156 Projects” were representative achievements of China’s industrial development during the 1950s and also embodied the typical characteristics of the “community of work units,” carrying significant urban memories. Taking the old industrial communities of the “156 Projects” in Heilongjiang Province as the research object, this paper adopts the Historic Urban Landscape (HUL) approach and employs historical map translation to reveal the historical accumulation patterns of these communities. Based on the analysis of spatio-temporal accumulation, the 22 old industrial communities associated with the “156 Projects” in Heilongjiang Province are classified into 3 types: urban-integrated communities, urban-adjacent communities, and industry-founded communities. The results provide a scientific basis for the conservation, regeneration, and refined management of old industrial communities.
