Study on the Protection and Renewal Strategies for Key Areas in Historical Districts: A Case Study of Nangang District, Harbin
Abstract：In response to the national policies for the protection of national historical and cultural cities and the relevant deployment requirements of the Central Urban Work Conference concerning urban renewal and the ecological inheritance of historical and cultural heritage, this paper selects the Nangang Historic Urban Area of Harbin as the research subject, aiming to contribute to the enhancement of the city’s cultural soft power and the construction of a historical context inheritance system. Focusing on the spatial characteristics and practical contradictions of modern railway-derived cities in cold regions, the paper proposes a classified protection and renewal strategy encompassing landscape system control, urban function weaving, activation of existing space, and cold-region environmental adaptation. Through practical verification in key sections along Dazhi Street, the feasibility of the strategy is confirmed, thereby forming a refined protection and organic renewal path adapted to the northern frigid urban areas.
