Seasonal Fluctuation Patterns of Place Vitality and Revitalization Strategies of Historical and Cultural Districts: A Case Study of Typical Historical and Cultural Districts in Harbin
Abstract:Aiming at the problems of seasonal vitality imbalance and homogenized revitalization of historic blocks in cold regions, this paper takes four typical historic and cultural blocks in Harbin as research subjects. Based on the high-frequency thermal data throughout 2025, it quantitatively analyzes the spatiotemporal differentiation characteristics of block vitality. The results show that seasonal constraints exert significantly differentiated regulatory effects on the vitality of blocks with different functions. The diurnal rhythm of vitality is highly coupled with functional positioning, and functional attributes determine the fundamental vitality of blocks. Accordingly, this study establishes a categorized and differentiated revitalization strategy system, and puts forward targeted measures to improve vitality across all seasons. The research findings can provide a scientific reference for the transformation of historic blocks in cold-region cities from static protection to targeted revitalization.
